What's Eating Brett Cecil?

The woes of Brett Cecil continue!!!

What’s the deal with Brett this year?  The Bird Nest has no doubt in Brett's abilities as a Major League pitcher and the contribution he will make to the Blue Jays organization over the coming years, but the downward trend in his game this year is beginning to signal some alarm bells!!

One area in particular that the "Nest" has noticed, is a significant decrease in the velocity of his fast ball which is hovering around 86-88 mph, down significantly from last year where he topped out at 92-93 mph.  This change in arm action appears to have affected Cecil’s confidence level; and is being reflected in his stats for the month of April, with his ERA hovering well over 6.00 and the potential that he may finish the month with only one win.

We at the "Nest" think it might be time for Cecil to use of the "Power of the Hair" to turn Cecil’s ship around pronto!!! What about the growing a good old pair of the McGowan Chops?

So, does Brett have his mind on something else? Perhaps Jennifer Jones, his fiance?

Hmmmmm, it appears that Brett actually does have game. Booyacka!

The Snider Stache

It appears as though the young Travis Snider is going for a grown up look in 2011.

As part of the Cito Gaston's retirement ceremony last September Travis Snider sported a fake mustache in honour of the Hall of Fame manager.  With this new look Snider promptly smashed a first inning solo shot, not only propelling the Jays into the lead but also providing them with their 245th homer run of the season, a new franchise record.

Obviously Travis has identified the "power of the Stache" for the 2011 season and will try to harness it's power in an attempt to be a potent slugger in the Jays line up.

But the larger question still looms, where does Travis Snider's "stache" rank against the classic baseball mustache?

Here are a few famous baseball "staches" that should be considered when making a comparison.

So what do you think, does the young Snider Stache have promise or is it nothing but peach fuzz?
